Some pure hypnotic blues i had a great pleasure to discover. i had no memories to see his name on any playlists unless i am used to listen to a lot of blues compilation , and you, did you it? I really like this album, you feel like riding motorbike in the countryside when the night falls. It is also like if you were in a heavy old train but at the same time, there is a spiritual touch that gives you the feeling you are meeting your soul. It's kind of spiritual and inspirational with a great energy.. I listened to some of his albums and "Do The Rump" is really my preference. I have been looking for this LP's in different shop in Europe during some city trip and it was impossible to find. I ended by purchasing it on discogs.
Here are some songs you need to listen to.
I like all the tracks of this album
You need to listen it to it from the first to the last track.
Keep your hands off her
Do the Rump
It looks like he had a revelation discovering Junior Kimbrough and that he decided to produce him with the help of Junior's son .The debut album came very late in Junior's life. He had 62 years old when it came out. He died 5 years laters from a heart attack; he had release about 5 albums in the meanwhile.
(Junior's Kimbrough documentary apparition with Robert Palmer's narration)
The documentary looks very interesting
I have found it on amazon, you can purchase it for about 10 euros only.> http://amzn.to/1YihXbY
Fun to discover....
Iggy pop toured with junior once, he tells about the man who was calling him lolly pop (a worth to see)
Do the rump song was covered by the Black keys in a full album
It appears they had also toured with him in the past.
I see online that some people prefer black keys version but i am not of this advice at all..
Another tribute album featuring different known artist has been released
It is named "Sunday night - The songs of Junior Kimbrough"
Not really amazing but still interesting to listen to it. Here is a version with cat power
> Do the Romp - Cat Power
Hope you enjoyed
Trying to push more discoveries soon
Cheers
