Lula Côrtes - Rosa de Sangue (1980) - Full Album found on Youtube
Lula began in 1973 with the release of Satwa with Rozenblit Label. Satwa is an amazing album too. Lula left to Marocco and recorded in 11 days with the guitarist Lailson unless the country was in its darkest dictature time. They perfected the sitar and guitar fusions and invented a brand new kind of psychedelic folk, infused with poetry and inluenced by indian ragas and traditions from the north.
Rozenblit was one of the most powerful label for Brazilian music in the 70. They were not located in Rio or Sao Paulo put noth-east from recife, in Pernambuco. The fact they had a certain geographical and financial indenpendence and it helped the label to have a unique voice on the brazilian music scene. Rozenblit label was also vinyl pressing plant, recording studio, and artwork & printing. It is said that they owned 20% of the market on their own.
Recently, Mr Bongo label proposed a joined venture and started to help to propose a more concrete view of what was the rock, folk and experimental scene at the time.

Before his solo album Rosa de Sangue, Lula Cortes made a very famous collaboration with Zé Ramalho releasing an album named "Paêribu". It is very psychedelic and you can definitely feel the brazilian rythmic influence. I have just discovered that almost all of the original copies of the album were destroyed in a river flood, making it incredibly hard to find. It is amazing to feel the progressive rock influence on their work very experimental and psychedelic. Also, it is interesting to note that Zé Ramalho never considered this album as a work by him. . He therefore celebrated 35 years of career in 2012 for the release of its first solo album " Ze Ramalho" and not in 2010 like he could have done for the release of Paêribu.

My advice would be to tell you to take a look to the Mr Bongo Label Music catalog. You will find all the Lula Cortes Work. He participated in other projects but I wanted to focus specially on his very own solo album Rosa de Sangue and speak about those two big album i strongly advice you to listen to too.
I discovered Lula Cortes doing an RBNB in Berlin 2 years ago. The girl rent the room of his flatmate while he was gone and he had an impressive collection of vinyl. I was very interested to look at his music gems and couldn't resist to take a listening to this album. I took a short read to the description and went in the sofa to enter into a deep journey....
Before I only knew about the brazilian music influenced with rock and roll from the 60's, best know as tropicalia movement. You might have already discovered Os Mutantes, Gal Costa or Caetano Veloso. If not, the best recomendation I have for you is to take a look to the music documentary Tropicalia iIt is really good to understand in which context the Tropicalia movement came out in Brazil and will give you an excellent understanding on this music period.
